"With so many digital outlets constantly bombarding us with information, we can't help but
feel drawn to sensationalized media. It is incendiary, offensive, stupefying, and
enchanting. . . . By capturing our attention with exaggeration — startling headlines,
shocking graphics, Twitter Moments, and Facebook's "trending" bar — sensationalized news
essentially renders objective journalism obsolete."

"More than a quarter of all food produced worldwide is never eaten, and the worst offender
of food waste by far is the United States. From farm to fork, Americans throw away about
40 percent — approximately $165 billion worth — of safe, edible food each year."
Food waste in the United States starts and ends with the choices that a consumer makes.
Amy Dong explores a way that the leading organic supermarket chain, Whole Foods, can
change consumer preferences to promote the purchase of "unwanted" food.
